Day 1 – And So It Begins

The dipping of my back tire in the Pacific marks the beginning of this trek. The next ocean will be some 6,000km away.

Vancouver to Langley, BC

What a day! In many ways, it did not go as planned… From starting late due to semi-frantic last minute packing, getting lost several times trying to follow Google Map’s rather savage bike route recommendations, to having my watch die on me a few hours into the ride. Not to mention a couple stumbles (yeah let’s call them that) as I got used to how differently this thing handles with all of the extra weight on.

Note to self: slam on the breaks before attempting any sharp turn.

It certainly wasn’t all bad though, as I got to start the trip with a send off from this beauty of a human, Nick.

As well as capping the day with a yummeh taco meal at Nate’s and Elise’s home out in Langley. I’ll be crashing for the night there. Not pictured is Nate showing me his beloved gun collection. But I did snap a pic of this glorious epsom salt bath they had set up for my aching legs.

Bon courage Alexis.

  3. I bet the bike handling is much more difficult with all those bags on. Oh nice that bath looks like a real treat. You’re gonna wish you could have another one in a couple days when your legs are crushed 😀

  5. On pense à toi!!! Bon courage!!! ❤️
