Day 6 – Rest Day at the Lakehouse

Zero Pedalling

I wasn’t planning on taking a full rest day for a while into this trip. But honestly, this was so needed; just kicking back and letting my body recover, after what has been a rough last couple of days it’s had.

Nate’s parents, Brian and Sharilyn, kindly had offered to host me at their beautiful Lakehouse on Shuswap Lake. Essentially that in itself was an offer that I could not refuse.

Out for a Rip

Kicked off the day with a boat ride around the lake, checking out Nate’s old stomping grounds, along with some crazily nice houses along the shores.

That, and some good ol’ quality bro time.

Sittin’ on the Dock of the Bay

This good times continued with a visitation from my new friend from Kamloops, Natalie. She brought some local beers and it was just so nice to chill, talk life, and take in the beautiful views. Could have honestly sat there all night.

Next-Level Hospitality

Simply put, the stay at the Lakehouse was the most wonderful of times. Sharilyn, Brian, and Nate all contributed to it, with their warm hearts and hospitality. They fed me bottom-less delicious food, fixed up my tent, helped with much needed-laundry, provided a comfy bed, helped tune up my bike, even packed my lunch. Truly above and beyond kindness… All of which helped me out a ton, and meant so much.

Thank you Thiessens!! I will certainly be looking back to this as one of the highlights of trip.
